Jeff Harnar Sings Sammy Cahn, the Second Time Around

In celebration of the recent release of his second Sammy Cahn recording, Jeff Harnar brings us the stage show Sammy Cahn the Second Time Around. Harnar revisits his 2001 Sammy Cahn recording which has been remixed, reimagined and expanded upon.
By the numbers alone, Sammy Cahn was one of America’s greatest songwriters: the most Academy Awards for Best Song; nearly 100 tunes recorded by Frank Sinatra; the highest paid songwriter of his day. Cahn turned out lyrics that were romantic, witty and punchy, with a bit of melancholy that touched the hearts of millions and became embedded in the fabric of the nation.
Harnar’s tribute to Cahn was a New York Times Critics’ Pick and led Liza Minnelli to rave, “I wish Sammy could have heard this; he would have loved it. I certainly did.” This celebration of a pillar of the Great American Songbook is made all the sweeter through the workings of time: lovelier, as Cahn himself wrote, the second time around.

Live concert and multi-media performance celebrating Ladino music and its fascinating connection to Caribbean culture. The roots of Caribbean music are entwined with strands from a distant Jewish heritage. Elysheva’s BorikenSpharad Ladino Music Project weaves songs, psalms, instrumental pieces, artistic imagery and historic texts to reveal clues and illustrate the deep connections embracing a forgotten lineage — a sacred font of secrets and blessed kisses from medieval Sepharad. Ramirez channels her ancestors with a beautiful haunting voice, and has established herself as the only Caribbean Sephardic/Ladino singer and researcher and the only Puerto Rican scholar in this field. She performs throughout US, Spain and Israel; collaborating with musicians of Puerto Rico, Spain, Israel, Argentina, Venezuela, and the US.
